There’s a sound to move-in week.
Suitcases on hardwood, moms calling from the driveway, names being shouted across the lawn. Somewhere underneath all of it is the hum of a kitchen that’s been ready for weeks.
This is our favorite time of year. For the members coming back, the house is where late nights happen. Where birthdays get celebrated and where someone makes you laugh so hard you cry. For the new members walking in for the first time, it’s the start of something they’ll spend the rest of their lives talking about.
Food sits in the middle of all of it.
The first family dinner of the semester, the grab-and-go breakfast on the way to the first test of the semester, the chef who learns your name by the end of the first week. We take it all seriously.
For our teams, fall semester begins before move-in day.
Deep cleans, equipment checks, and menu planning with house directors and food chairs happen before anyone sets foot in a Greek house. While we’re simultaneously onboarding new chefs and cooks so they’re confident, trained, and ready for the first meal on day one.
By the time the first car pulls into the parking lot in August, the kitchen is already humming. The pantry is stocked. The team knows the schedule, the dietary needs, the recruitment calendar, the philanthropy events, the parents’ weekend menu.
Because the women and men walking through that door don’t need a vendor figuring it out as they go. They need a home that’s ready for them.
What “We Show Up” looks like in August.
It looks like a chef on a first-name basis with the recruitment chair, asking how she’s feeling the night before bid day.
It looks like a kitchen team that knows which member is gluten-free, which one is training for a half marathon, and which one just needs a warm cookie because she’s already homesick.
It looks like house directors who don’t have to chase down a regional manager because the campus manager is already three steps ahead.
It looks like parents dropping off their daughter and noticing that the dining room feels like a place she’ll want to be.
It looks like the small, unglamorous, behind-the-scenes work that makes a house feel like a home.
The houses we serve aren’t just accounts.
They’re communities. They’re the place where chapters that have existed for a hundred years welcome their next generation through the front door, and we get to be part of that.
That’s not lost on us. It’s the reason we built this company the way we did – partner-focused and rooted in the idea that food is how connection happens. We’re the largest food service provider in Greek life for a reason.
We’re proud of what we do here. We’re proud of the chefs in our kitchens, the campus managers walking the halls, and the corporate team showing up behind them every single day.
So if you’re a house director reading this on the eve of move-in: take a breath. Your team has been getting ready for this.
If you’re a national office leader looking ahead to fall: we’re already in motion.
And if you’re a member walking through your front door this week for the first time or the fourth, welcome home. We’ve been waiting for you.
We Show Up.
