It’s that time you’ve been waiting for! No more exams, no more sitting through seemingly endless and yawn-inducing lectures, no more sprinting through the campus when you overslept. It’s summertime, friends! Here at Upper Crust, we’re sad to see some of our fraternity and sorority members go home or move to the next stage in their life (congratulations graduates), it’s pretty hard not to be happy and look forward to the nice weather and fun summer festivities.
We love providing our food catering services to all of you, and we want you to have the best summer possible! That’s why in this post, we’re going to provide you with a few tips to make the most out of your summer! If you have any questions for us about our college food services, then please feel free to reach out to us today!
Travel
We know that the average college student’s funds aren’t the largest, so when we recommend traveling over your summer break, we don’t mean packing up your things and buying tickets for the next flight to Rome (unless you can, of course!). We’re simply suggesting that you go discover someplace new or to one of your favorite locations! Even if it’s a quick hour drive to a camping spot, if you get the opportunity, do it! Traveling is good for your mind and your soul, and you deserve to take a little trip and put late nights of cramming for exams in the past and enjoy your time away.
Enjoy the Weather
Upper Crust Food Service serves fraternities and sororities all across the nation, and the clients we serve come from all over, so we can’t really guess what the weather will be like where you’ll be this summer. But, more than likely, you can expect some rays of sunshine and warmth! Take advantage of it! Go to the park with a great book in hand and find a nice spot to read, join a softball league, go lay out by the pool, or better yet, go swimming in a lake! It always seems like the warmer months go by in a heartbeat so just make sure that you’re not spending all of your time indoors and take advantage of the nice weather!
Get a Job or Internship
We know that one of the greatest things about summer break is taking some time to relax, but there will still be time for that if you get a job or apply for an internship! One of the main benefits of doing this is, of course, getting some extra money before the next semester pops up. But you’ll also be preparing yourself for life after college. If you start building up your resume now, it’ll be easier for you to land a job after you graduate. Employers aren’t interested in the grades you received in school, they want to see real world experience, leadership qualities, and the ability to work hard. You’ve already got a head start since you are part of the Greek life, why not help yourself out even more while also making some extra bucks?
Give Back to the Community
There is never a bad time for volunteering. Not only does it help out those in need in your community, but it also gives you a special sense of pride knowing that you gave a helping hand. We know that you’ve done some volunteer work and fundraising with your fraternity or sorority, and now that you don’t have class, you have plenty of free time to volunteer! Find an organization or cause that you’re passionate about and start giving them your support. As another incentive to do some community service, volunteer hours help boost your resume as well!
Take Classes
We know, we know, you just got out of your classes, why would you enroll in any more? There are many benefits to taking summer classes. The main reason is that it will let you start out the next semester already ahead, taking some of that weight off your shoulders. If you get enough credits during your summers, you can even graduate early! Also, the classes are found to be much smaller so you’ll have a better environment to learn, and your professor will even know your name!
Learn Something New
Is there a hobby that you’ve always wanted to pursue? What better time than now! Whether you’ve always wanted to be a better cook (our campus chefs can show you some pointers) or want to learn how to knit, what better time than now to learn! Push yourself out of your comfort zone and learn something new this summer, you won’t regret it!
Spend Some Time With Friends
Friendship is truly something special, and now that you have more free time, what better way to spend it than with some of your favorite people? While the usual hangouts shouldn’t change, try and think outside the box a little bit! Plan a trip with your friends, join a yoga class or intramural sports team together, or go on an adventure. Just enjoy all of the time that you can with them. If you’ve left campus for summer and are heading back home, we know you’re going to miss your fraternity brothers or sorority sisters. They really do start to feel like family. But you can still keep in touch with them over the break! Spend some quality time with your real family while you’re with them. You know they’ve missed you, and even if you are the type that doesn’t want to admit it, we bet you’ve missed them too. During the college years, the bond between you and your parents become something incredible. You’re all adults now, and you’ll be surprised how close your bond will get as you grow older.
Eat Some Good Food
If we here at Upper Crust love indulging ourselves in anything, it’s food! After all, we are a college food catering service! So, of course, we recommend that you get out there and try some delicious eats! Don’t stick to the same restaurants that you’ve always gone to either. Explore! Give your taste buds an adventure. There are some incredibly tasty dishes out there just waiting for you to try. Sure, you might not like everything that you try, but life is way too short to be a picky eater! And if you’re sticking around campus this summer, you can rely on us to provide you with food that you’ll love!
Make sure that you live life to the fullest this summer and enjoy every minute of it! If you would like to learn more about our college catering services or your chapter house is in search of reliable kitchen solutions, then make sure to contact Upper Crust Food Service now!
