For Joshua Topasna, regional manager for Upper Crust Food Service, food is life. “I love to eat, so making tasty, healthy food comes naturally to me,” he says. “I also love to make other people happy with delicious meals.”

A self-proclaimed jack of all trades, Topasna learned the ropes of the culinary world by working a variety of odd jobs both front and back of house.  However, he says his greatest inspiration is his father.

“A lot of my passion comes from my dad,” says Topasna. “He taught me an incredible amount on the relationship between food, family, and culture.”

A father of three, Topasna says most of his free time is spent with his family. “I’m also extremely active so I like to take them outdoors where we love hiking, sledding, fishing, camping, and tubing. I also enjoy taking them to the farmer’s market.”

A member of The Upper Crust family for seven years, Topasna says he appreciates the time management puts into its staff.  “Since starting with the company I have learned so much about food and cooking from other chefs and even students,” he says of the role. “I feel like Adam, Bob and everyone in corporate has invested in me to be successful in my region and I am extremely appreciative for the opportunity to shine and be a leader to our staff here.”

When asked his favorite type of cuisine to prepare, Topasna says Asian, but he enjoys cooking a lot of different styles including Latin, Greek, and Italian.  “I like to introduce new cuisine to those who may not have tried something before,” he says. “All of our students are great to work with and genuinely appreciative for all we provide for them.”
