For Upper Crust Food Service regional director, Sean McCarthy, cooking is in his blood.

“My dad was a chef and I just grew up in kitchens,” says McCarthy of his decision to pursue a career in the culinary field.

A graduate of the Art Institute of Detroit, McCarthy went on to perfect his skills by working as a sous chef and later corporate trainer for area businesses.

For McCarthy, who has been with UCFS for four years, traveling is one of the best parts of the job. “I love the ability to work with and meet amazing people in my travels. The college students definitely keep me young.”

When asked his favorite foods, he says key lime pie and rib eye definitely make the cut, but he can’t resist Buffalo wings. Favorite foods to prepare include BBQ and dry aged beef. In his spare time, he enjoys making homemade pizza for his daughter.
